Abstract The wettability alteration is one of the important mechanisms to increase the production of oil and gas reservoirs. One of the methods to wettability alteration is to have nanoparticles in contact with surfaces or injected into porous media. In this study, the effect of alumina nanofluids on the wettability alteration (oil and condensate wet) of a carbonate rock was experimentally studied. Alumina nanofluids with different concentrations in the range of 0.001-0.01 wt% were prepared and the size of particles into the nanofluid was analyzed by the particle size analyzer and found average 13 nm. The effect of nanofluids on the wettability were investigated by measuring the contact angles of water/oil/rock and water/condensate/rock systems. Results show that the contact angle is changed from condensate and oil wet to water wet in water/oil and water/condensate system respectively, and from gas-wet to strongly gas-wet in the water/air system.
