Abstract

In this innovative research, to the kinetic modeling of oxidation and reduction reactions in the chemical ring combustion process (CLC) using the modified grain model, (taking into account the change in the structure of the oxygen carrier during the reaction and also considering the size distribution of the grains in the oxygen carrier), have paid. The modified grain model takes into account changes in grain size, sparse distribution of grains, and changes in the physical properties of the solid reactant. Using the modified grain model, the percentage of oxygen carrier conversion Co–Ni/Al2O3 in oxidation and reduction reactions was obtained, which showed acceptable agreement with the experimental data extracted from the articles. The obtained results showed that the fractional conversion percentage of reduction and oxidation increase with increasing time until they finally reach a uniform state. The rate of change of fractional conversion percentage of the oxidation process in the first 2 minutes is almost twice the rate of change of the fractional conversion percentage of the reduction process, and with the passage of time, the behavior of these two processes becomes similar. The results obtained from the modified grain model using MATLAB software are in good agreement with the laboratory results obtained from the sources and the average error percentage between the observed experimental and MATLAB diagrams is 3.1 percent.
