Abstract

Objective: Resistance training and protein supplementation increase protein synthesis resulting in growth and hypertrophy. One of the hypertrophic pathways is the mTOR signal pathway that is activated by resistance training. Activation of mTOR in the kidney can cause kidney disease and disease progression. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of eight weeks of resistance training and spirulina supplementation for 8 weeks and its effect on mTOR / S6K / RAGs / Rheb signaling pathway in kidney male rats. Methods: The present study is an experimental and statistical population design of male Sprague-Dawley rats. 32 young male rats with 3 months of age and an average weight of 290 ± 20 g will be randomly assigned. During the study period, each rat was kept in a separate cage of transparent polycarbonate at an ambient temperature of 22 C, humidity 55±4%, and a 12:12 h light-dark cycle. After the familiarization phase, they were randomly divided into four groups: control, resistance training, spirulina supplement, and exercise and supplement interaction. The resistance training protocol included an eight-week climb up the ladder to a height of one meter. Twenty-four hours after the last training session, the mice were dissected and the tissues were stored at -70 ° C. Then the expression of the dependent variables of the study was measured using a real-time PCR method. Significance was used at 0.05 level. Results: In mTOR, results showed a significant difference between spirulina and control groups (p = 0.01), but in the resistance training group and exercise interaction and supplementation there were no significant changes. In the Rheb factor, no changes were found in any of the groups compared to the control group. In the RAGs factor, there were significant differences in Spirulina group (p = 0.00), resistance training (p = 0.047) and exercise and supplement interaction (p = 0.0025) in all three groups.
