Abstract

The coastal area of Tangestan is located 90 km from Ali Changi village to Berikan village along the shores of the Persian Gulf. In the Qajar era, the economy of Tangestan ports was mostly based on fishing, transition of goods and agriculture; But in the Pahlavi era, port and commercial activity increased. According to the available documents, due to the border facilities, the purchase of high tonnage boats and industrial tools led to more fishing and transition of goods in these ports. This study deals with the economic and social situation of Tangestan ports in the Qajar and Pahlavi periods and examines the factors that caused the continuation of human life in these ports and their role in the historical developments of the Persian Gulf. The method of this historical research is descriptive-analytical; The data were collected through libraries, documentation and field research. The findings of this study indicate that the proximity of Tangestan ports to Bushehr port, being located on the Basra-India trade route and trade centers, the existence of natural docks, customs, construction of piers, arms trade, lack of independence of Bushehr port in monitoring these ports and The realization of government policies was effective in the continuation of human life in Tangestan ports during the Qajar and Pahlavi periods.
