Abstract

Introduction& Purpose: Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are one of the most common causes of injuries related to health in employed staffs. The aim of this study was to evaluation of the ergonomic risk factors and its relation with musculoskeletal disorders in electric power distribution company of Bushehr Province. Methodology: 64 subject of Bushehr Electric Power Distribution Company (28 females and 36 males) participated in this cross-sectional study. In order to investigate the musculoskeletal disorders, the NORDIC questionnaire was used and postures were evaluated by RULA method. Body fat percent measured by caliper. Data analyzed with Logistic regression. Results: The most MSDs in females was in upper back and in males was low back. More weight was associated with increased pain in the back and upper back, and more age associated the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders in the shoulder and back. With increasing BMI and body fat percentage, the incidence of MSDs in the waist, back and knees was increased. The results showed that 57.2% of females was in belonged to posture level 1, 28.5% in level 2 and 14.2% in level 3. Also in males group 55.5% was in level 1, 25.1% in level 1, 11.1% in level 3 and 8.3% in level 4. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study and significant correlation between ergonomic risk factors and musculoskeletal disorders, it is recommended that to prevention of injuries regular postural education programs and appropriate ergonomics for staff must be done.
