چکیده

Researchs has shown that proper nutrition can increase the resistance of plants to various stresses. Strawberry is susceptible to salinity while silicon shows to be a factor that can reduces the adverse effect of stresses such as salinity. The present study evaluated the effects of root and foliar application of silicon on growth and yield of strawberry under salt stress under soilless culture (Hydroponic). Experiments was conducted based on two-factor factorial experiment considering the silicon concentration and it application as a first factor and salinity as second with basic design of completely randomized design. Pajro cultivar of strawberry seedlings were prepared for testing. After the cultivation of plants in the 4-5 leaf stage, salinity using NaCl salt in the nutrient solutions was applied. Salinity had two level consist of 40 mM and 0 (control) was used. In the same time, the foliar application of silicon at 4 and 8 mM and application root of silicon at 1 and 2 mM were done. Morphological and vegetative trait consist of shoot and root dry weight, leaf area, green index, weight and specific leaf area, leaf nitrogen content measurements and reproductive traits such as number of inflorescences per plant, number of flowers per inflorescence, number of first and second fruits, diameter and length of achene, number achene, yield, quantitative and qualitative traits including measurement of ascorbic acid, total acid, pH of juice and total soluble solids (TSS) and minerals such as sodium, potassium, chlorine, silicon and nitrogen were analyzed.The results showed that with increasing salt concentration from zero to 40 mM in all levels of silicon application, all of the characters are reduced, except the amount of sodium in shoot and root. Under the most of the treatment levels, silicon reduced adverse effect of salinity and it showed a positive effect on growth parameter of Strawberry.
