Abstract

Background: Divorce official statistics don’t completely show the failure of spouses in marriage, because the evidence points to an increase of another type of divorce called emotional divorce. Despite the importance and the need to review the structure of emotional divorce, most studies have been performed with self-made questionnaires and surveys that have been stand ardized on a small number of people Aim: The aim of this study is analysis and stand ardization of emotional divorce questionnaire. Methodology: The population of this study was all couples in Boushehr province. At first 680 questionnaires were distributed and 501 numbers were analyzed for exploratory factor analysis, and in the second stage 620 questionnaires were distributed and 500 questionnaires were analyzed for confirmatory factor analysis. Participants were selected by available sampling method. Result analysis method was correlation, factor analysis and multivariate analysis of variance. Instruments included Enrich Fors questionnaire, Olson et al. questionnaire (1989), desire to divorce questionnaire by Roosevelt et al. (1986), and marriage instability questionnaire by Edwards et al. (1987). Conclusions: The results of exploratory factor analysis identified 9 factors (Criticism, silence and bias, emotional response, emotional involvement, power and resources, lack of depression and frustration, the third angle, limiting, sexual problems) as the main factors of emotional divorce. Then confirmatory factor analysis was performed on another sample and the results showed the model fitting and verification of obtained 9 agents. The survey questionnaire correlated with the desire to divorce is 0/702 and a significance level of P<0.001 and the instability of marriage 667/0 questionnaire and a significance level of P<0.001 indicates the concurrent validity.
