Abstract

Cognitive bias is a systematic pattern of deviation from norm or rationality in judgment. Cognitive biases are mental errors that create an image for the audience that can diagnose depression and facial expressions and sometimes also affect its level of hope. Objective: In this section, the main purpose is to investigate the effect of correcting cognitive bias towards sad faces on indicators of depression, hope and life orientation on students. Methodology: The research method will be quasi- experimental and its design will be pre-test and post-test with the control group. Several methods are used for research. The statistical population includes students of Persian Gulf University in the academic year 1401-1400. The sample size in this study includes 40 male and female students with depression and hope index and will be selected using purposive sampling method. For statistical analysis of data from mean, standard deviation, multivariate analysis of covariance, multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) is a quasi-experimental test method and its design is pretest-posttest with a control group that was analyzed with SPSS 21- software. Results: The results showed that the modification of cognitive bias towards sad faces has a significant effect on depression, hope and positive life orientation. Conclusion: In general, the results showed that cognitive bias modification methods based on positive imagery and avoidance of negative thoughts in the mind are effective methods in reducing depressive symptoms, improving bias and hope and positive orientation in a person's life
