Abstract

Background: Love and making love is an important aspect of life and plays an important role in maintaining interpersonal relationships and is based on commitment and intimacy, and since the failure and trauma of love harms mental health and interpersonal relationships, in this research, intimacy and commitment are compared in spouses with and without a history of emotional trauma. Aim: The aim of the present study is to compare intimacy and commitment in spouses with and without a history of emotional trauma. Methodology: The research method was applied in terms of purpose and causal-comparative in terms of data collection. The statistical population of the research was all the couples of Bushehr city, out of which 038 people were selected as a sample using Morgan's table in a non-random way and according to the love shock questionnaires of Ross (1999), intimacy of Walker and Thompson (1983) and marital commitment Adams and Jones (1997) answered. Findings: The results showed that there is a significant difference between the two groups of spouses with and without a history of emotional trauma in terms of commitment (P = 0.000, F = 29.32) and intimacy (P = 0.007, F = 15.08) and Commitment and intimacy are more in spouses without love shock than in spouses with love shock. Conclusions: Based on the findings, there is a significant difference between commitment and intimacy in spouses with a history of love trauma and without love trauma, so it was suggested that several training courses for couples be held publicly by the institutions responsible for family strength, and the skills of intimate relationships and to be trained diligently.
