Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of culture of Asian Sea bass in fresh and sea water on growth and feeding parameters and body composition of Asian Sea bass with an average initial weight of 33 ± 0.9 gr. Fish were evaluated in three hundred-liter polyethylene circular tanks in three repetitions. Feeding was done twice a day for up to 60 days. The results showed that farming Asian sea bass in fresh and sea water did not have a significant effect on growth performance (P > 0.05). In addition, regarding feeding performance, only the daily feed intake had a significant difference between treatments (P < 0.05) and other feeding parameters and body composition did not show significant differences between treatments (P > 0.05). The fish in freshwater had a lower feed conversion ratio (0.92 ± 0.06) compared to seawater fish (but not significanty). Overall, the study showed that this species could tolerate wide range of different salinities over a period of 60 days and during this period fish have a proper growth withot showing any mortality.
