Abstract

Vinamidinium salts, a class of organic compounds, find applications in organic synthesis, polymerization reactions, the pharmaceutical industry, and dye production. Due to their unique structure, these compounds serve as three-carbon building blocks in the construction of heterocyclic rings. A key feature of vinamidinium salts is their reactivity toward electrophiles at the β-carbon and nucleophiles at the α-carbon, which makes them valuable intermediates in organic syntheses. Therefore, the development of new vinamidinium salts is of high importance. These salts can be readily prepared via the reaction of arylacetic acids with phosphorus oxytrichloride and dimethylformamide. This simple and efficient method facilitates the expansion of vinamidinium salt synthesis using novel substituents.
