Abstract

Background: Entrepreneurship, as an important factor in economic growth and social development, has always been a main focus for researchers. Entrepreneurial intention is recognized as a fundamental factor in shaping and understanding entrepreneurial behaviors. This study investigates the factors influencing entrepreneurial intention and analyzes the relationships among them. Aim: The objective of this study is to identify and prioritize the factors affecting entrepreneurial intention using both pull and push approaches, providing a comprehensive understanding of the interactions and relationships among these factors. Methodology: This study begins with a systematic review of reputable academic articles from the Scopus database to extract a comprehensive set of factors influencing entrepreneurial intention. These factors are then prioritized and structured into levels through interpretive structural modeling (ISM) and the insights of entrepreneurship experts in Bushehr city. The relationships among the factors are analyzed based on the pull and push approaches. The study’s target population consists of entrepreneurship experts selected through purposive sampling. Findings: The findings of this study present a comprehensive and organized set of factors influencing entrepreneurial intention, which have been prioritized using both pull and push approaches. The relationships among these factors have been analyzed, shedding light on the complex interactions between them and the position of each factor within the pull and push relationship networks. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, in the pull approach, the factors influencing entrepreneurial intention are prioritized into five levels. At the first level of this approach, personal and familial background and experiences, as well as the entrepreneurial supportive social environment, are placed, which can stimulate or attract a wide range of other factors influencing entrepreneurial intention.
