In this thesis, a simple, cost-effective, efficient, and one-pot method for the synthesis of benzamides has been developed. In this method, aldehyde derivatives and amine hydrochloride salts react in the presence of a deep eutectic solvent (DES) composed of urea and copper(II) chloride dihydrate, which acts as both catalyst and green solvent. The products were synthesized with moderate to good yields within 6 to 8 hours at 80 °C. The structures of various benzamide derivatives were identified and confirmed after isolation from the reaction medium using chromatographic techniques and spectroscopic analysis.
