Abstract

The direct coupling of aldehydes and amines, known as oxidative amidation, toward synthesis of amides, is reported for the first time in Urea:CuCl2.2H2O deep eutectic solvent, which simultaneously also plays the role of a catalyst. tert-Butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) was employed as a green oxidant, and all the reactions were performed at 80°C. More than 20 amide derivatives were synthesized in good to excellent yields. Urea.2H2O was employed as both a solvent and a catalyst for the synthesis of 22 amides with yields of up to 95% via oxidative amidation reactions of aldehydes and amine hydrochloride salts.
