Background: The higher education system of any country is one of the effective factors in the implementation of economic, social and cultural development policies of that country. Provision and training of specialized and experienced manpower as a basis for comprehensive development of countries, production of knowledge and research and conducting basic, developmental and applied research, is done by universities and higher education centers; Therefore, the higher education system, with its outputs and consequences, is actually taking steps towards the development of the country.
Aim: The main purpose of this study is to use data envelopment analysis with the benchmark point to analyze the performance of the departments of the Persian Gulf University according to the management goals.
Methodology: First, by studying the researches done in the field of university performance evaluation, appropriate indicators were identified and then these indicators were refined by consulting the supervisor and faculty members and appropriate indicators were determined for evaluating the departments. Then, the data related to the selected indicators were collected and goals was determined for the output data by consulting the faculty members of the university departments. And using data envelopment analysis model, first identify efficient units and Then, the main model of this research was performed according to the importance of actual performance and management goals for efficient units.
Conclusions: Although the method presented in this research has been used in a university, but it can be used to evaluate the performance of internal units of any type of organization and by considering the management ideals, monitor and control the capabilities of units and strategies to improve Offered.
