چکیده

Textile industry has been one of the important industries in Iran for many centuries and Iranians are the first nation that have employed textile industry. In Pahlavi era, industrialization was one of the policies of the government and therefore establishing new factories especially textile factories were among the most important industries due to offering employment opportunities and added value. One of the cities that was deemed suitable for establishing textile factories was Bushehr where two textile factories of Persian Gulf and Etemadieh were founded. The preliminary procedures for the foundation of Etemadieh factory were provided in 1934 by Bushehr Chamber of Commerce and in 1938 it formally established by Hossein Igar. Up to the second world war, it underwent an economic boom, but it was closed due to some reasons and difficulties. In 1968, it was re-established by Ali Kazemi and in spite of ups and downs, it continued its production and activities for more than forty years. The major question of this research was what caused the establishment of Etemadieh Factory in Bushehr and what effect this company had on the social and economic situation of this city. The current research aiming at the investigation and explanation of the establishment, activities and effects of Etemadieh textile company on social and economic situation of Bushehr was undertaken in a historical method, with a descriptive-analytic approach employing documents, library resources and primary resources. The findings of this research revealed that this company has had a great effect on the social and economic structure of the city and besides increasing the rate of employment and migration, it led to greater awareness of the working force, the formation of an urban working class and exportation of non-oil products.
