Background: Cartoons and animations are one of the influential factors that are very effective and important in the formation of the personality of children and teenagers. And it is also important for children and teenagers to imitate the heroes of these cartoons.
Aim: The research was conducted with the aim of investigating the effect of video cartoons on the executive functions, creativity and life skills of preschool children
Methodology The present study was conducted in the form of a semi-experimental method with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the research includes preschool children of Bushehr city in 1403 who were studying in the preschool centers of this city, 47 people were selected as the main sample by multi-stage cluster random sampling method, then in three groups of 15 people, two experimental groups and one control group were randomly replaced. The experimental groups watched cartoons for 10 sessions in 5 weeks, with the difference that in the first experimental group, cartoons were discussed, but in the second experimental group, they only watched cartoons, and the control group did not receive any intervention.
Result: The findings showed that actively watching cartoons has a significant effect on selective attention, active memory, creativity, empathy skills, and communication skills, but it does not have a significant effect on cognitive flexibility, impulsivity, and daily life skills.
Conclusions: The results of this research showed that watching cartoons along with discussions can improve cognitive and mental skills as well as life skills in children.
