Abstract

In this research, the impact of the time preference rate on the extraction of non-renewable oil and gas resources in Iran during the years 1346- 1396 has been investigated. Since the time preference rate is a subjective concept and an unobservable factor, it has been calculated through factors affecting it. To achieve this goal, the methods of analyzing structural equations and maximum likelihood have been employed. To analyze data, this study utilized Amos software. The research findings show that the relationship between the time preference rate and the extraction of non-renewable oil and gas resources in Iran is a meaningful and positive relationship and gas extraction has a greater impact than the time preference rate. Also factors such as; GDP, inflation rate, unemployment rate, life expectancy, energy produced from fossil fuels and urbanization growth rate have a positive and significant effect on time preference rate. Among the variables affecting the time preference rate, the GDP growth rate has had the greatest impact.
