Abstract

Background: What we call intimacy varies from person to person and from culture to culture and is undeniable. Because our expectations are socially shaped by many different contexts. This qualitative study was conducted to investigate the components of marital intimacy from the perspective of young couples in Bushehr. Aim: Identifying the components of marital intimacy from the perspective of young couples in Bushehr. Methodology: The statistical population of this study includes all young couples in Bushehr by purposive sampling. 9 women and 6 men were selected. Semi-structured interviews were used to collect information. The grounded theory method was also used to analyze and evaluate the information obtained from the interview. In this study, validity, portability, reliability and verifiability were used to validate and trust the data. Conclusions: The eight components of this study were in line with the components mentioned by the researchers in other studies. The other 6 components were the result of analyzing the statements of the participants in the research community. Which include: self-centered, self-sacrificing, participatory, affectionate, perceptual and lexical intimacy. These dimensions have shown the emphasis of couples in the research community on these concepts, which previously had no place in intimacy. Therefore, this research can reduce the existing ambiguities from previous research on the dimensions of intimacy. And pave the way for other research on intimacy. It can also be of great help to counselors and family therapists for premarital and marital counseling.
