heatexchangerareusedtopressurizeandpreheatthefeedtotheHTLreactor.The
algae-waterslurryispumpedandheatedintheexchanger.Thepreheatedfeedreacts
andisconvertedintobio-oil(organicphase,oil),agasphase(gas),anaqueousphase
(AQU),andasolidphase(solid)intheHTLreactor.TheHTLreactoroutputentersthe
solid-liquidseparator,wheresolidparticleslikecharandashareseparatedfromthe
reactorproductsbeforetheoutputflowsintotheheatexchangerandcoolsdownwhile
