Abstract

Background: here Shame is an important and decisive emotion in the painful experience of post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms and the involvement of a person with anxiety symptoms. The subject and purpose of this research is the qualitative study of the phenomenology of the experience of shame in people with symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. Aim: The purpose of this research is to explain the main categories of the experience of shame in the participants. Methodology: The current research is a qualitative research of phenomenological type, the participants in this research are the population of people with symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder who were selected as a purposeful sampling. In this research, 8 people who had symptoms of the desired disorder were interviewed. And MAXQDA (2018) software was used for data analysis. Finding: Based on the findings of this research, the experience of shame in people with this disorder includes 5 cognitive-behavioral and emotional categories, which are; ((supporting others)), ((feeling frustrated and rumination)), ((exposing oneself to a traumatic situation)), ((physical manifestations)) and ((accompanying emotions)). And the underlying factors obtained from the interviews were the experience of people's shame, the lack of support from others, and the judgment and expectations of others. Conclusions:. By examining and analyzing the data from the conducted interviews, we have realized the lack of supportive atmosphere from the family and relatives and the frameworks that compel a person to obey them, which causes the experience of shame in people who are placed in is subject to psychological damage. The cognitive and emotional behavioral manifestations associated with this variable have caused the symptoms to become disturbed and cause the permanence and stabilization of the cycles of decreasing and increasing anxiety which is the main characteristic of this disorder, which ultimately causes a decrease in the
