This study intends to answer the questions whether the methods of emotional regulation and transactional analysis are effective on the improvement of love trauma syndrome and the assumption is that there is a significant difference between the effectiveness of the two methods on the improvement of the symptoms after break-up. To do so, Rosse’s love trauma syndrome questionnaires were distributed among the students of Persian Gulf University and those with love trauma syndrome were identified. They were randomly put in three groups of Control, Emotion Regulation training and Transactional Analysis Training. Training group sessions were held for 8 weekly sessions for 44 students who were willing to participate. A comparison of the individual’s love trauma syndrome questionnaires before and after attending the sessions shows that training in Emotional Regulation and Transactional Analysis are actually effective in improving the aftereffects of break-ups and no distinctive difference of effectiveness was found between the two methods.
