Abstract

In the last century, with the advent of technology, and with the need to increase the speed of shipping, there has been a significant increase in the use of fast-moving vessels. It is important to note that discussions on boosting trust to speed up have always been the focus. One of the related methods is designing and selecting the appropriate propulsion system and selecting the propeller with remarkable efficiency. Among the propulsion system, the semi-submerged propeller is an innovative new craft in the field of high speed vessels, which has attracted the attention of designers in recent years due to their high speed and resistance to the destructive cavitation phenomenon.Designers must consider parameters such as high maneuverability, buoyancy stability, high impeller speed, all of which are favored by industry owners and vessels. Since the cost of producing these types of propellers is very heavy, it has forced designers to analyze the effective hydrodynamic parameters on this type of propeller using simulation software. In this thesis, numerical simulation of semi-submerged propeller using STAR-CCM+ software is performed and the effects of these propellers on the key parameters of efficiency and torque coefficient, thrust coefficient in terms of forward coefficient are investigated and with available laboratory results, Comparison has been made.
