In situations where the scarcity of drinking water resources has been raised as a serious problem, membrane distillation (MD) has been considered due to its high ability to desalinate high salinity water and treat various types of effluents. So far, various polymers such as polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), polypropylene (PP), polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) have been investigated for the preparation of MD membranes. In this study, the behavior of polycarbonate (PC) intermediate fiber membrane made by dry-phase fuzzy separation method has been studied as another polymer option. Since this membrane is naturally hydrophilic, the contact angle was increased from 77.5 ° to 102 ° by surface modification with silica aerogel nanoparticles (SIA nanoparticles) and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS).
