Abstract

Investigating the relative advantage of different cultivars derived from date palm waste in the production of two tomato seedlings and comparison with coco peat Soroosh Heydari Background:In recent years, the indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers has led to disruptions in plant production and toxicity to soils and salinity and salinity of agricultural lands; Therefore, re-attention to organic fertilizers and sustainable and organic agriculture in plant production has received much attention. On the other hand, the accumulation of agricultural wastes and the environmental problems caused by them require that these materials be placed in the life cycle in a desirable and conscious way. One of the important ways to recycle waste is to use it in agriculture, especially compost. Composting horticultural and livestock wastes is one of the best ways to improve the properties and reuse these wastes, including palms in the production cycle. Aim:The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of different combinations of culture media, nutrition and cultivars on the characteristics of tomato seedlings in the Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources of Persian Gulf University. Methodology:This factorial experiment was performed in a completely randomized design with five replications over a 46-day rearing period. Factors included cultivar (Primo and Siach), nutrition (feeding and non-feeding) and culture medium (cocopeat, palm waste disinfected, palm waste treated with urea fertilizer, palm waste processed with poultry, cattle and sheep manure) And traits such as seedling length, seedling diameter, root length, root volume, leaf number, leaf area, shoot fresh and dry weight, root wet and dry weight, chlorophyll a, b, total and carotenoids as well as nitrogen, phosphorus and Potassium was measured in leaves and culture medium. Conclusions:The results showed that the culture medium of palm waste processed with organic fertilizers increased most of the studied traits
