Abstract
Metapoetry holds an important place in the modern era as a means to explore poetry from a deeper perspective, expanding our understanding of the art of poetry and its impact on individuals and society. It has played a significant role in the development and comprehension of poetry. This type of poetry allows poets to express their thoughts about the poetic process, the role of the poet, and their relationship with the text and the audience. Metapoetic reflection is an embodiment of a high level of poetic and cultural awareness. In modern times, especially in the twentieth century, metapoetry witnessed considerable momentum. Poets throughout history have extensively utilized metapoetry, contributing significantly to this genre that reflects their deep thinking and awareness of the poetic and literary process, such as Emirati poet Karim Matouk. Matouk's poems may contain metapoetic elements that reflect his thoughts and philosophy about poetry and writing. He is known for his profound and diverse poetic style. Matouk addresses a wide range of topics, including human, cultural, and social experiences, and some of his poems delve into deep reflections on the art of poetry itself and the writing process. This study adopts a descriptive-analytical approach and seeks to explore metapoetry in the poems of Emirati poet Karim Matouq. Keywords: logo, Sultan Qaboos University, semiotics.
