In this study, vinamidinium salts are synthesized via the reaction of ?-(1-heteroarylium)acetic acid derivatives (1) with Vilsmaier-Haack reagent and perchloric acid in ethanol.
Furthermore, the reaction of these salts with 1,8-diaminonaphthalen in the presence of N,N-diisopropylethylamine catalyst leads to 1H-naphtho[1,8-de]pyrimidine (2) and in the absence of catalyst leads to 1-[(2,3-dihydro-1H-perimidin-2-yl)methyl]pyridinium derivatives (3) in acetonitrile as the solvent. These compounds synthesized in high yields.
