In this paper, the utilization of plasmonic crystal (made of silver and gold embedded within the active layer) for increasing the optical absorption in polymer solar cells based on P3HT: PCBM is investigated. The plasmonic crystal is composed of metal nanowires made of silver and gold embedded within the active layer. To obtain the absorption enhancement, the intensity of electric field inside the active laver in the vicinity of nanoplasminc crystal is calculated by using Lumerical software and compared to the bare structure without the crystal. Results show that one can obtain the optimum enhancement by changing the material of nanowires and the substrate. The thickness of active layer, and the period. For the chosen configuration, the maximum enhancement is obtained by choosing the values of 150 nm and 25 nm for the thickness and the period on aluminum substrate and nanowires made of silver.
