Context: Nowadays, companies and institutions need social capital more than economic capital, physical capital, and human capital for development, because without this asset, other capitals will not be utilized effectively. In an Enterprise where social capital is insufficient, other investments are spoiled. Social capital provides a space for business and economic activities and transactions that can facilitate economic activities and decreases the cost of doing such activities, as well. Hence, social capital is considered as a fundamental principle for achieving a sustainable development, so organizations must provide tools for improving and improving social capital.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of the dimensions of social capital: internal relationship dimension of social capital, external relationship dimension, internal cognitive dimension, external cognitive dimension, internal and external structure dimension on the performance of the company.
Methodology: In order to achieve the research objectives of this study, a statistical population including 105 import and export companies in the province of Bushehr is investigated. Data analysis is conducted using the structural equation modeling, by the use of PLS software.
Findings: Results show that all the dimensions of social capital have a significantly positive effect on the firm’s performance except the external structure Dimensions of the social capital.
Conclusion: Among different dimensions of the social capital, the internal structure dimension has the most positive effects on the performance and it was followed orderly by the dimension of external relation, the dimension of internal relational, the dimension of external cognitive, and the dimension of internal cognitive have a positive impact on the performance. Also the dimension of external structure did not have any positive impact on the performance.
