Abstract

Introduction:This study was conducted to examine the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities on the productivity of librarians, with a focus on the mediating role of knowledge sharing among librarians working in medical university libraries in Tehran. Research Method:The research employed a descriptive-survey approach and is applied in terms of its purpose. The statistical population included all librarians working in the libraries of medical universities in Tehran. Due to the limited size of the population, a census method was used for data collection, and a total of 214 completed questionnaires were analyzed. Standardized and validated instruments were utilized to measure the research variables. The level of AI utilization was assessed through a 22-item questionnaire across five dimensions: AI management, AI-based decision-making, AI infrastructure, AI readiness, and AI skills, adapted from the study by Chen et al. (2022). Librarian productivity was measured using a 17-item instrument developed by Jabarzadeh (2013), covering four dimensions: efficiency, effectiveness, commitment, and problem-solving. Knowledge sharing was evaluated through a 12-item scale based on the questionnaire by Damaj et al. (2016). All questionnaires were designed using a five-point Likert scale. Validity of the instruments was confirmed using convergent and discriminant validity, and reliability was verified through Cronbach’s alpha. Findings:The results indicated a significant and positive relationship between AI capabilities and librarian productivity. Furthermore, AI had a significant and positive effect on knowledge sharing. Additionally, knowledge sharing showed a significant and positive correlation with librarian productivity. Discussion and Conclusion:The analysis revealed that knowledge sharing acts as a full mediator in the relationship between AI capabilities and the productivity of librarians. Originality:This research significantly contributes to the literature on
