Abstract

Bastak and Jahangirieh played a significant role in the political, economic, and social evolutions of the Persian Gulf’s offshore region during Qajar and Pahlavi’s period. The presence of some factors such as geographic position, locating in Persian Gulf trade routes towards the offshore and central regions of Iran, the existence of governing leaders such as Bani Abassid leaders resulted in paying more attention to this region. The current research aims at studying the political, economic, and social evolutions of Bastak and Jahangirieh as an offshore region emphasizing the role of Bani Ayabbasid leaders in the socio-economic prosperity of Bastak and Jahangirieh during 1234-1346 AH. Methodology used in the current study is an analytical-explanatory one based on the library resources, documents, field research and oral history. Governing of the Bani Abassid leaders, security establishment and farming revitalization in this region caused the capital attained from agriculture sector to be transmitted into trade activities expanding internal and external commercial companies’ activity and also paved the way for meeting the economic prosperity programs such as establishing health and educational centres. In addition, increases in population number and demographic evolutions led to socio-economic prosperity of Bastak and Jahangirieh in the period under study.
