Abstract

Historians consider the most important characteristic of the historiography of the Timurid era to be its central government. In other words, they assumed most of the written sources of the Timurid era to be prescriptive, and the dominant hegemony in the words of the historians of that period were the central and legitimizing concepts of the emirate, by solving the issue of Genghisian descent, for the kings of this dynasty. It seems that historians' judgment about all historiographical sources of the Timurid period is a general and hasty judgment. In this context, they have not paid much attention to the different approach of Abdul Razzaq Samarkandi in the knowledge of Saadin. The most important question of this research is that what is the role and position of Abd al-Razzaq Samarkandi in the continuity and evolution of historiography in the Timurid period? In response to this question, the hypothesis of the research is that Abdul Razzaq Samarkandi, by simultaneously emphasizing Iranian identity, dealing with the concept of monarchy, highlighting the institution of ministry, paying attention to mysticism and Sufism, along with his simple writing style, not only perpetuates the ideas of the first wave of history. It was the writing of the Timurid period; Rather, by removing the institution of the ministry and passing from the central emirate, it is considered the beginning of a serious transformation in the next wave of historiography of the Timurid period. The findings of this study show that Abdul Razzaq, on the one hand, influenced by Iranian-Islamic historiographical tradition, features such as emirate-centeredness, belief in providence, lesson-learning, patriotism and ethics. used in his historiography; And on the other hand, he has tried to go beyond the emirate-oriented and elitist form of historiography of his time.
