Bandar Kong was one of the most prosperous ports in the Persian Gulf during the Safavid era. The prosperity of this port began during the period of Shah Abbas I and continued until the end of the Safavid period. The purpose of this research is to investigate the position, role and developments of Bandar Kong in the Persian Gulf during this period. The question is what causes and factors were effective in the prosperity and decline of Bandar Kong. The evidence indicates that a series of policies of the Safavid government and the local governors of Fars and Larestan along with the commercial activities of the Portuguese led to the prosperity of Bandar Kong; But at the end of this period, due to the attacks of the imams of Muscat on this port, the end of the Portuguese trading house, and in general, the insecurity in the Persian Gulf and the interior areas of Iran, Bandar Kong declined. This research was done by descriptive-analytical method and data collection was done by library method.
