An effectual eco-friendly protocol for the construction of 4,6-diarylpyrimidin-2(1H)-ones has been described through a solvent-free one-pot multi-component reaction. The condensation of urea, aryl aldehydes, and acetophenones in the Me3SiCl presence produced 4,6-diarylpyrimidin-2(1H)-ones in high yields and relatively short times. In the reported protocols, a catalyst has been used beside Me3SiCl. However, in our protocol, there was no need to utilize a catalyst.
