Abstract

Background: Phenols are one of the largest compounds of the phytochemical group, which are of great interest due to their unique properties such as antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, etc. have etc. Although phenolic compounds are considered one of the most important secondary metabolites of plants, recent studies have shown that these compounds are widely present in algae, and for this reason, the methods of extracting them from algae are of great interest. is placed Due to environmental reasons, organic solvents are not suitable options for extraction, although they have shown high efficiency in this regard. For this reason, the development of alternative solvents that are friendly to the environment has always been the focus of researchers' attention. In this regard, ultrafast solvents have shown that they are a worthy substitute for organic solvents in various fields, including the extraction of natural compounds from terrestrial and marine sources. Because these solvents are easily prepared, their toxicity has not been reported, they have a wide variety, and they are cheap and environmentally friendly. In the present study, the efficiency of ultra-volatile solvents for the extraction of polyphenols from Gracilaria red algae has been studied. Aim: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of choline chloride/citric acid deep eutectic solvent on the extraction efficiency of the total phenolic content of the Persian Gulf red algae, Gracilaria, and to investigate its antioxidant properties. Methodology: In this study, Gracilaria red algae was collected from the tidal zone of the coast of the Persian Gulf. The solvent selected and used in this study, choline chloride/citric acid, was prepared in a molar ratio of 2:1. After washing and removing impurities and powdering, the studied algae was allowed to be stirred under different conditions of temperature, time and ratio of sample powder to the amount of solvent in order to extr
