Abstract

Competition in the banking industry has increased sharply with the emergence of digital transformations and new technologies. Banks are seeking to improve efficiency and maintain their competitive advantage in this challenging field. The present study examines how executive competencies and executive capabilities affect the efficiency of the private banking system, considering the mediating role of technology-based culture. This descriptive-correlational study collected data from heads, vice presidents, and employees of the private banking system using a Likert-scale questionnaire. The sample size of the study was 384 people. Structural equation modeling was used to analyze the data using SPSS and SmartPLS software. The results of the structural equation modeling analysis show that the effect of executive strategies (executive competencies, executive capabilities) and technology-based culture on efficiency is significant. Also, executive strategies (executive capabilities and executive competencies) have a significant effect on technology-based culture. Digital transformation is disrupting operational environments, requiring companies to adapt to change through digital strategies that prioritize efficiency. The results of this research can help bank executives formulate and implement more effective digital strategies. By focusing on developing execution capabilities and creating a strong technology-driven culture, banks can increase their productivity and lead the competitive digital banking landscape
