Abstract

A sandwich panel consists of two plates at the top and bottom and a core in the middle. The plates are relatively thin but have high strength and stiffness. With the progress of the industry, the use of composite sandwich panels has attracted the attention of designers and engineers. Considering that, the phenomenon of fatigue is one of the most common failure modes in these structures, analysis and investigation of fatigue behavior and prediction of their useful life will help designers in choosing the correct and reliable structure. In this study, the growth of fatigue cracks in composite sandwich panels with four panel combinations, each with a different core shape, was investigated. For this, with two different loading scenarios and two simple and rigid support conditions, sensitivity has been measured with five modes of loading force. The results showed that the best answer was the Hexacore, Quadcore, V-core panel, and finally the weakest answer belonged to the O-core panel.
