The purpose of this research is to investigate cognitive therapy based on mindfulness on the quality of life and executive functions of patients with thalassemia major. The research method was a semi-experimental type with a control group and two stages of pre-test and post-test. The statistical population of the present study is beta thalassemia major patients who referred to the thalassemia department of Shohada Hospital of the Persian Gulf in Bushehr in the autumn and winter of 1400. For this purpose, 40 beta thalassemia major patients were selected using the available and voluntary sampling method. , were chosen. After matching, the participants were randomly divided into two experimental and control groups. The experimental group received the cognitive therapy program based on mindfulness for 8 sessions (1.30 hours), but the control group did not receive any program. The research tool included quality of life and data analysis was done using the statistical method of analysis of covariance. The obtained results show that the quality of life, executive functions and their components in beta thalassemia major patients increased significantly more than the control group after the implementation of the cognitive therapy program based on mindfulness in the post-test. Therefore, cognitive therapy based on mindfulness improves the quality of life, executive functions and their components in patients with beta-thalassemia major, therefore, as an intervention program for beta-thalassemia major patients, it can be fruitful.
