Let X be a separable Banach space. If X is reflexive, we give characterizations of von Neumann-Schatten p-frames and von Neumann-Schatten p-Riesz bases in terms of operators. Using operator theory tools, we prove that the set of all von Neumann-Schatten p-Bessel sequences for X, is a Banach space. Finally, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for Banach spaces to have a von Neumann-Schatten p-frame or a von Neumann -Schatten p-Riesz basis.
