Abstract
Economic literature suggests that political and economic risks influence macroeconomic variables, including societal corruption. This study aims to investigate the impact of economic and political risks on Iran's corruption control index using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model for the period 1996-2021. Long-term estimations reveal that both economic and political risk indicators have a positive and significant effect on corruption control in Iran. Moreover, an increase in per capita GDP and the quality of the law index has also contributed to improved corruption control. Based on these findings, it is recommended to implement policies and measures that reduce economic and political risks in Iran's economy. Adopting stable financial and monetary policies and avoiding sudden decisions without thorough analysis can significantly contribute to mitigating economic risks.
