Abstract

Background: Tomatoes are especially important among vegetables in Iran in terms of cultivated area. It is also the second most valuable product in the world after potatoes. Aim: The present research was conducted in order to investigate the genetic diversity of new tomato cultivars based on morphological traits under field conditions in Bushehr province. Methodology: This research is to investigate the quantitative and qualitative performance of 14 tomato cultivars (8320, 6189 (Sunseeds), 8700 Bassimo, Bella, Brivio, Karoon, Kis mat, Komodoro, Oula, Queenty, Rockstone, SG 12, TM10851 and Zhivan) in the form of a design randomized complete blocks with three replications was implemented in the Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources of the Persian Gulf university, Bushehr province, under field conditions. At the end of the growth period, all the quantitative traits of the plant including: fruit diameter, fruit volume, fruit weight, fresh and dry fruit weight, and qualitative traits including fruit firmness, total acid, vitamin C, and soluble solids were measured. Conclusions: Based on the results of the variance analysis of cultivars, a significant difference was observed at the probability level of 1% in terms of all traits. Comparing the average of the cultivars showed that the highest fresh fruit weight was obtained in SG 12 variety (131.3 grams) and the highest dry fruit weight in Brivio and Kis mat varieties (8.6 grams). The variety 8700 Bassimo had the highest average fruit weight (124 grams) and fruit diameter (18.6 mm). The highest fruit volume corresponds to SG 12 (99 cm3) and Oula (97 cm3), the highest number of fruits in 8320 (34), Brivio (33/3) and Kis mat (31/3) varieties was recorded. The highest number of branches in cultivar TM10851 (3.6), stem length in cultivars Komodoro (94 cm) and Queenty (18.03 cm), crown diameter in cultivar Zhivan (18.03 mm) and yield in The Bella cultivar produced 3.79 kg/m2. The mean comparison showed that Brivio cultivar
