Verse 55 of Surah Al-Ma’idah (the verse of Wilayat) is one of the most important verses through which Shiites have argued about the immediate Imamate of Imam Ali (AS). However, opponents of this belief, including Alusi, have cast doubt on it. Therefore, the present study aimed to examine the verse of Wilayat from the perspective of Tabarsi and Alusi in order to answer the question of what views these two commentators had about the mentioned verse. The research method was descriptive-analytical and the data collection was done using library resources. After examining the status of the revelation of the verse, the difference between Wali and Ruku’ from their perspectives was examined and the results of the study showed that Tabarsi interpreted Wali as a guardian and Alusi as a helper and friend. Also, Tabarsi interpreted Ruku’ in its true meaning; That is, it is understood as bowing in prayer and Alosi has interpreted it as humility and humility. By examining the meaning of the words mentioned in the glossary and verses of the Quran, and the studies that have been conducted, the conclusion is reached that wali in the verse means guardian and ruku means bowing in prayer.
