Construction of any kind of structure on soil causes consolidation in lower layers of soil. During the consolidation phenomenon the excess pore water and pore air pressures will be dissipated and the volume reduction and soil settlement will occur.
Prediction of behavior of unsaturated soil in the case of time dependent loading is very significant because,
the construction takes long time and during this time, the loading on soil will be changed. In order to analyze consolidation phenomenon in any
soil, two different approaches exist in which couple approach is more rigorous and more reliable than uncouple
approach because, in the couple approach stress strain analysis is related to dissipating excess pore
water and pore air pressure, in other words they are dependent to each other, however this analysis will
be done in the uncouple approach separately, moreover uncouple approach is not able to model all of
multidimensional consolidation aspects. In this study the problem of consolidation of one dimensional
and two dimensional couple of unsaturated soil have been solved using Differential Quadrature Method.
