چکیده

This paper investigated the seismic bearing capacity of strip footings on cohesive-frictional slopes using Finite Element Limit Analysis (FELA). The Modified pseudo-dynamic (MPD) approach was used for modelling seismic conditions due to its capability to consider the changes in the amplitude and the phase of acceleration. The OptumG2, a FELA-based software, was selected to perform the analysis. All stages of the modelling process were executed in MATLAB. The effect of geometrical properties (distance between strip footing and the slope's crest, and slope angle), soil shear strength (cohesion and friction angle), and earthquake parameters (horizontal earthquake coefficient, damping ratio, and normalized frequency of shear wave) on the bearing capacity of strip footing on the cohesive-frictional slope were investigated. This study provides a preliminary assessment of the effective parameters on the bearing capacity of strip footings on cohesive-frictional slopes using the FELA method under seismic conditions. The findings of the present study reveal that the normalized frequency and damping ratio significantly influenced the bearing capacity of strip footings near the cohesive-frictional slope.
