Abstract

The majority of soils found in nature are unsaturated and their properties are incompatible with saturated soils. Therefore, predicting the behavior of these soils is of great importance. In this study, the consolidation of unsaturated soil under time-dependent loading and nearly impermeable boundary conditions in plane strain and axisymmetric conditions (in strip, circular, and ring footings) was investigated using the differential quadrature method.
