Abstract
At the present time, it is important to recognize the various elements of the text; whether it is a structured set of signs and whether it is treated as a process of multiple variables. In novels and stories, these elements consist of a comprehensive and structured complex that character is one of them. In this thesis, the characterization of three teenage novels “Hasti“, “Kianoosh’s Garden” and “Romances of Jonah in the tummy of the fish” that deal with theme of war, is investigated. The purpose of this study was to measure the success of their authors in characterization, and to show real identity of adolescents in war. The method used in this thesis was library research and data analysis; and charts and tables are also provided for better understanding the results. Analyzing these novels by characterization methods, such as "representation” and “semiotics” could refer to authors success of presenting the characters. The results show that although few weaknesses, all of three authors had some success in characterization based on reality; but they could open a new way of characterization of effective war teenagers.
