Abstract

In this study, an environmentally friendly method for the synthesis of β-hydroxysulfides from alkenes and thiols using a catalytic amount of humic acid in water is presented. A CuI-catalyzed condensation reaction between alcohols, alkyl halides, and sodium thiosulfate in PEG-200 at 110 °C is also introduced.
