The coasts of the Bushehr province are rich in macroscopic algae which include red algae Gracilaria. This alga is a world-known source of agar. Concerning the importance and economic value of agar in the food industry, pharmaceutical, medical, laboratory fields, studying different species of agar from ecological aspects and considering the different quantitative content of the extracted agar has received a lot of attention among researchers [1,2].
