Background: All humans are associated with others, and these relationships rely on mutual expectations of individuals from each other, and also on their shared perceptions of their relationships (Fregaz and Fitnes, 2008, quoted by Ray and Exterma, 2016). Injustice, negligence, and abjuration are among the most destructive factors for the human beings relationship. In general, people react when they are oppressed, mauling or neglected, and their possible reactions to injustice, mauling, and misery can include a wide range of revenge, Forgiveness, or even inattention (Aquino et al. 2006; Base and Trip, 2005, quoted from Base, Trip and Aquino, 2007).
Aim: The purpose of this research was to investigate the moderating role of personality traits on revenging or forgiving a teammate’s negligence and abjuration.
Methodology: The statistical population of this study was undergraduate students at Persian Gulf University in the second semester of the academic year 97-96. The sample included 120 out of 357 students who were applied to participate in a Speed- Accuracy test. The research data were collected through a short form of a five-factor questionnaire (McCrae and Costa) and a questionnaire on motivations for responding to errors in interpersonal relationships.
Results: The trait Extroversion, in addition to predicting the tendency to revenge against a negligent teammate, could moderate the relationship between a teammate’s negligence and tendency to revenge. The traits Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, and Neuroticism could predict tendency to revenge against a negligent teammate. Openness to experience and Conscientiousness could moderate the tendency to revenge against a negligent teammate. The traits Agreeableness and Neuroticism could predict neglecting the teammate’s abjuration.
