Abstract

Background: fidelity and commitment are important elements in marriage stability. Extramarital relations are defined as a hidden sexual, romantic or emotional relationship in a married person, in which the person violates the commitment of the marital relationship by engaging in that relationship. Purpose: The present study was conducted with the aim of predicting the relationship between extramarital relationship based on attachment behaviors, emotional security with the mediating variable of traumatic childhood experiences in men and women with extramarital relationship experience. Methodology: Methodology: In terms of the purpose of this research, it is an applied study, and using a targeted sampling method, among married men and women with extramarital relationship experience in Bushehr province, there were 230 people (122 women, 108 men) who had referred to counseling centers. were selected as samples. To collect data from four marital infidelity questionnaires (Yenisseri and Kokdemir, 2006); attachment behavior in marital relationships (Sand Berg et al., 2012); Revised emotional security (Cordova, J. and Warren, 2005); Childhood trauma (Bernstein, Stein, Newkamp, Walker, Pugh et al., 2003) was used. Structural equation model method was used for data analysis using SPSS and AMOS software. Findings: The data were analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient and multivariate regression methods. The presented results show that there is a relationship between extramarital relationship and responsiveness (p=0.015, r=-0.161), companionship (p=0.046, r=-0.132), spouse's availability (p=0.003, 196/ r=-0) and companionship of spouse (p=0.002, r=-0.200), a negative and significant relationship was obtained (p<0.05). No significant relationship was found between extramarital relationship and components of accessibility (p=0.719, r=-0.02) and wife's responsiveness (p=0.160, r=-0.093) (p>0.05).
